Summer…or so they say

9 Jun

Well well well, it has been quite a while since I have posted on here, and I can honestly say I have missed it. A lot has happened since my last post, so I will do my best to catch you all up to speed.

I am now 2.5 years old, weighing in at a slim 92 pounds, and currently rocking a telletubby purple bandage around my broken back pinky toe. How you might ask did I get this broken toe? Why chasing a tennis ball of course. It would figure that out of the 1,678,887 times I have chased a tennis ball, 2 weeks ago I manage to break the darn toe and ruin my summer for the next 6-8 weeks. I have been waiting MONTHS for lake weather, and now that it is finally here, I am stuck inside with this mortifying bandage and nothing to do.

But Texas weather is nice most of the year, why have I been waiting months for warm weather you ask? Small detail, I moved back to Chicago with my mom in January. She is originally from Chicago and was ready for a change, and since we are pretty much inseparable, I of course made the journey with her. Anyways, this winter SUCKED! It was freezing and there was so.much.snow! I go back for an xray on my foot in a couple of weeks, so hopefully at that time the doctor clears me and I can get back to my normal summer routine of ball chasing and swimming, my 2 favs!

My mom and I are moving to my aunt and uncles soon, which I am looking very forward to. They have an awesome yard, a pond I can swim in, and they have a CHUCK IT! I love going there when my mom is out of town, and I am beyond thrilled that we are going to get to live there full time for a while. It will be great, especially once my bum toe is heeled.

I know I said I had a lot to catch you up on, but that is really the only the parts worth writing about. I assume that since it is summer time there will be more exciting things to write about, but I can’t make any promises.

Until next time….

Hello Everyone!

28 Feb

I am sorry for the lack of posts lately, there hasn’t been a whole lot of exciting things going on in my life lately.

I came across this video, and I laughed so hard I cried…I gurantee you will do the same! (Fast forward to 1:35).

I was at camp this week and got put inside a few times by myself, which by the way I did not appreciate. Anyways, the camp staff said it was because I was excessively “mounting” all the other dogs. I didn’t see anything wrong with it, I am not an aggressive or dominant dog. Anyways, my parents were not too happy with me, and are trying to figure out what to do about my new bad habit. Any suggestions? I want to go to camp and play with my friends!

Oh before I forget, you have GOT to hear what I did yesterday! My human mom took me outside right after work, and she was so sweet becuase she didn’t even change out of her work clothes and heels, she just went straight to my cabinet full of tennis balls and headed to the park with me. We were playing for a few minutes until my ball rolled under the fence onto the golf course side, welllllll I had a moment where the devil was sitting on one shoulder telling me “go run around on the golf course and go swimming in the pond with the ducks” and the angel on my shoulder said “Don’t do it, go back to the park with your human and be a good boy”…guess what I did? Yup, I grabbed my tennis ball, booked it across the golf course and belly flopped into the pond – – – – FREEDOM!!!! As I am swimming around in the pond with my tennis ball in my mouth, I hear something similar to the sounds of my mom yelling my name and for me to come back to her. My attitude was Brown Dog, don’t cur:) I knew I was in trouble when I saw my human running across the golf course in her high heels while dodging live golf balls, needless to say she was NOT happy! She stood on the side of the pond yelling for me to get out, and if I could talk in a language she would understand, this is what I would have said “Not yet mom, I have a few more laps to swim, and I really want to catch one of those Mallard ducks swimming by”. So I continued to swim after the ducks, and man those buggars are fast! After I realized I couldn’t catch the ducks, and that I was in big trouble, I headed for the edge of the pond and jumped out. We headed back home and mom yelled at me some more. Between you and me….it was TOTALLY worth it! I can’t wait to do it again soon!

Tomorrow is Friday and I am going with my humans to visit some friends that live a couple of hours away, can’t wait! I love adventures!

Have a great day Y’all!

Boulder the not so good Blogger!

13 Feb

Hi there,

I know I have been off the radar for a while, but I actually have good reasons. This past weekend my humans had to go out of town so they brought me to stay the day and night at my camp! I was really excited to get to play with my friends, but by day 2 I was really missing my mom and dad. Needless to say, they took the laptop with them, so I had no way to communicate to my bloggin’ buddies:)

So far this week has been pretty good! I got to go to camp yesterday and had a blast running around like a fool. However….apparently I was being a little too rambunctious for the humans (and other dogs) liking, so they had to “correct” my behavior by putting  a small leash around my neck until I calmed down.  They said it was mainly becuase I was being “a little too much” for one of the new dogs at camp, well excuuuuuuseeee meee, I thought this was camp people! Anyways, it wasn’t that big of a deal because I was tired and worn out at that point so it was a good time for me to lay down and take a rest.

One of my humans has been sick so he has been home a lot more lately, but all he wants to do is sleep. He walks around with a hunched over back making sniffle noises and doesn’t even bother to go out of his way for me.Sheesh, what’s it take for a guy to get some attention around here?  One fun thing that happened today while my dad had me out to play was that my ball went under the fence on the golf course, and since I am so smart, I knew how to go and get it. Once I retrieved my ball from the golf course, I couldn’t resist running as fast as I could for the pond to take a little dip:) It was great, until I heard my dad yelling at me to get out, so like the good pup I am, I obeyed, but not before messing with one of the golfballs that a golfer had hit on the fairway. MUAHAHAHAH. He was not too excited about me doing this, but my human stuck up for me and responded with “a big squirrel came and moved your ball” (insert golfers not very happy facial expressions).

Well, that is what has been going on with me! I have camp tomorrow, so maybe I will have more exciting things to write next time.

Don’t forget your valentine, and remember dogs can’t have chocolate!!

Missing the weekend…

4 Feb

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! What did y’all (in my best Texas accent) do this weekend?

I hope everyone enjoyed the Super Bowl! Was it just me, or was that Go Daddy commercial a bit awkward?! I guess it leads to good conversation, right? All I kept thinking was how much I would love to be on that ginormous football field chasing that football! I would do a lot better than most of those “professional” football players.  I didn’t really get into the game that much, mainly because I am a Bears fan, but it was still fun to watch the commericals:)

My weekend was awesome!! Satuday I got to go to the dog park for a while and play with my Chuck It! I was surprised at how many humans were there wanting to throw tennis balls for all the dogs! How nice of them to accomodate us.

Saturday night I got to spend the evening with my half sister (we have the same dad ,but different mom’s). We had a BLAST! As soon as I got to their backyard, my first reactions was…POOL!!!!! And in I went! Naturally I am drawn to water, but their pool was especially fun! It had ledges that you could stand on, or areas where I was able to run, jump, and belly flop in the pool. Of course the water was a bit on the chilly side, but that did not stop me from catapulting in after the ball:)  Although I don’t get to see my half sister very often, it is very obvious that we are related! We look alike (although she is yellow) and have the same obsession for balls!

Sunday was a relaxing day at our house. I spent most of the day laying around and playing with my toys.

Today I am back at camp! Love starting off the week getting to play with all my friends!

It looks like this week is a busy one for our family, but I will try to give you an update here and there.

Have a great day,

Puppy Whip!!

I am at camp today, but just figured I would drop by and say hello!

This is a picture from a few weeks ago of me enjoying a delicious “Puppy Whip” from Starbucks:)

You should visit your nearest Starbucks and order one for your pet!

Annnndddd It’s Monday….

28 Jan

By now you know what that means….back to work for my humans, and long, lonely days for me!

I have actually been enjoying my time alone more the last week or so because the weather is so nice! My mom has been leaving the windows open during the day and I have come to love laying on the back of the sofa cushion with my nose pressed against the screen. My humans tell me I look like a cat when I do this, but I don’t see how that is possible. Have you ever seen an 80 pound, brown cat, with a huge snout????….didn’t think so.

Anyways, I apologize for the lack of posts! I don’t know if my humans got a raise or what, but they have been letting me go to camp multiple times a week. Camp=Happy Boulder:)  Friday was especially fun at camp because my friend who lives by me was there too! We were the only ones being OCD with the tennis balls, maybe that is why we get along so well.

Do you remember a couple of weeks ago how I was telling you about the Chuck It toy? Well, my mom must have read my post because that Saturday she took me to Petsmart to pick out my Chuck It!! It was very exciting, although she wouldn’t let me play with it in the store, and put it in the TRUNK on the way to the dog park.

I just have to share with you something that I saw that day at Petsmart….These 2 humans pulled up in the parking spot next to our car, and as we were getting out, I noticed they had also brought their dog. I was thinking how happy the dog must have been becuase Petsmart is the equivalent of a candy store for small children…well guess what? They left their dog IN THE CAR! What kind of human does that? That is pure torture. Why would you bring your dog with you to a place that is FOR dogs, just to leave him in the car while he watches all the other animals go in and out. Poor guy:( My humans would never do that to me! In fact, a lot of times I over hear them on the phone asking different businesses (mostly restaurants) if dogs are allowed at their establishments! I have trained them well!

In my neighborhood there is a lot of construction going on, especially down by the dog park. This normally doesn’t phase me becuase I still have enough room to chase after my tennis ball, however, that all changed today. I went out to the dog park this morning and realized that the maintenance men (the jerks who whip around in their golf carts and almost run me over on a regular basis…sheesh!!) had changed the dog park all around. They moved the fence so now I am at even more of a risk of getting a golf ball to my dome:( Not appreciated!

Well I just figured I would let you all know that I am alive and well! I will try to be better about posting!

Have a great Monday!

High Five For Friday!!

18 Jan

Alright, I will be honest,  I do not know how to do a high five! My humans tried to teach me, but I am more of a “shake” type dog, I can even do “shake” with both of my paws!

Today started out with a 3 mile run with my Mom, it would have been fun if she didn’t make me wear that stupid BRA! How embarassing! Maybe it is not really a bra, she calls it a harness, but to me it is nothing short of a bra and I do NOT like it one bit. I think it is degrading, and I do not appreciate her making me run not only 1 mile, but 3 miles in it!  Luckily it was dark out when we were running, so hopefully not many people had to whitness that horrible site.

On to better topics, as I said last week, Friday marks the day where when my humans come home tonight they work for me 24/7 for 2 WHOLE days! Oh yea! Oh Yea! OH YEA!!! I am thinking we are going to the dog park tomorrow, which would be awesome! Last week when we went there were a total of 10 dogs there (due to the chilly weather) and 9 of those 10 dogs were Labs! Love it when that happens! Every lab owner had a Chuck It except for my mom…..umm Mom, if you are reading this…GET WITH THE PROGRAM! In fact, let’s hit up Petsmart tonight and buy one so that I don’t have to be the only kid (dog) without a Chuck It!

For those of you not aware of what a Chuck It is, it is a product that launches a tennis ball a very far distance with minimal effort! They come in all different lengths and styles, just depending on what your dog likes! I highly recommend one!  Most humans especially like it because you can pick up the ball with it and not have to risk getting slobber all over your hands! Check it out!!

I had a Chuck It when I was younger, but I accidently chewed it up and the ball no longer fit in the launcher:( I can’t imagine why my humans have not bought me another one…

Have a great weekend!
